At Beech Green we value each child. We aim to offer a safe and happy environment for the children to learn and we believe pupils have the right to be listened to and consulted about appropriate issues to do with their school life. The school council aims to give all children a voice in these important decisions. The school council has been invited to meet with our Governing Body to feed back their ideas and views. The Governing Body is very proud of the school council and presents a medal to each member, past and present, at the annual Y6 leavers’ assembly.
The school council meet at least twice a month - usually with teacher Mrs Parkinson (whilst Mrs Evans is on maternity leave) to discuss issues in the school. These may include school fundraising events, making decisions about what to spend funds on and in the past they have even helped by giving their input and views when recruiting new staff!
Beech Green school council is made up of a boy and a girl from each class from year two to year six. There are elected Chairpersons (boy and girl), plus a Treasurer and a Secretary. The school council has a display board in school so that all pupils know who their year group representatives are. Representatives are elected at the start of the new academic year: The children elected for 2016 / 2017 are:
