At Beech Green we value involvement and interest in sports extremely highly, and as a result offer participation in a large number of sporting events and competitions throughout the year, both in and out of school.
We compete in the local league, are part of the Gloucester School Sports Network and Quedgeley Learning Community, for which we are able to take part in numerous city-wide competitions and additional sports.
We will often welcome into school specialist sports clubs and coaches to assist in delivering high-quality modules of PE or offer taster sessions of more ‘alternative’ sports.
Football 2021/22 Season
Beech Green began this season early by entering the ESFA Tournament for Gloucester Schools. We hosted Round One ourselves and progressed against local rivals Meadowside, Hardwicke and Waterwells, before Round Two which was held at Upton St Leonards. Here we came up against three tough teams: USL themselves alongside Robinswood and St Paul’s. Winning two and losing one, the team reached the finals! This was held at Oxstalls Sports Park at the end of September: the eight best schools in Gloucester this year. On what was a truly autumnal evening, the team played fantastically in the incessant wind and rain, although ran out 1-0 losers in each of their three group games against Coney Hill, Elmbridge and the eventual winners, Longlevens. Not to be disheartened, Beech Green rallied and won their final match 2-0 against Calton, finishing on a high and having had a wonderful experience.
As of early October, Beech Green have won their opening match of the season 3-1. Please do see the website for fixtures and results: https://www.gpsfa.com/glos-inter-schools/
